Kremlin spokesman says war could end "in the coming days"

The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov did not rule out that the Russian operation on the territory of Ukraine may be completed in the foreseeable future.

“We hope that in the coming days, in the foreseeable future, this operation will either achieve its goals or we will complete it through negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations,” Peskov said in an interview with the British television channel Sky News.

He noted that he believes that the operation can be completed through negotiations, but this will depend on the position of the Ukrainian delegation, as well as on “how ready they are to accept Russia’s terms,” Russia’s Interfax news agency reported.

Peskov acknowledged that the Russian army had suffered “significant losses”, calling it a “huge tragedy”. writes the BBC.

According to official data from Moscow, as of March 25, 1,381 Russian servicemen had been killed and about 7,000 wounded since the start of the war. A NATO official quoted Reuters as saying the death toll is between 7,000 and 15,000.

“We are interested in a truly objective investigation of possible crimes. We want to understand what the formats of such an investigation could be,” Peskov said in an interview with British media.

Asked whether such activities could be considered in the International Criminal Court, the spokesman recalled that the Russian Federation was not involved in its activities.
